What are GOST Flanges?

GOST flanges are flanges conforming to Russian standards GOST /ГОСТ 12820, GOST /ГОСТ 12821, GOST /ГОСТ 12836. GOST flanges are commonly used in pipeline systems in Russia and other countries of the former Soviet Union. They are available in various sizes and pressure ratings for connecting pipes and other piping components in piping systems. GOST flanges are classified according to the type of pipe ends, pressure rating and flange type. They are usually made of carbon steel, but can also be made of other materials such as stainless steel or nickel-alloy steel.

Advantages and disadvantage of GOST Flanges

Some of the advantages of GOST flanges include.

What are the different types of GOST flanges?

Dimensions of GOST Flanges

There are several different standards of GOST flanges, including:

  • GOST 12820-80 flanges: These flanges are used for low-pressure piping systems and have a pressure rating of up to 1.6 MPa (232 psi). They are available in sizes from DN 15 (NPS 1/2″) to DN 600 (NPS 24″).
  • GOST 12821-80 flanges: These flanges are used for high-pressure piping systems and have a pressure rating of up to 25 MPa (3625 psi). They are available in sizes from DN 15 (NPS 1/2″) to DN 600 (NPS 24″).
  • GOST/ГОСТ 12836-67 specifies the dimensions of blind flanges, which are used to seal the end of a pipe or vessel opening. The standard covers flanges with nominal pressure (Pnom) ranging from 0.1 to 20.0 MPa (from 1 to 200 kgf/cm2).
  • GOST 12815-80 flanges: These flanges are used for piping systems with extreme temperatures and have a pressure rating of up to 1.6 MPa (232 psi). They are available in sizes from DN 15 (NPS 1/2″) to DN 600 (NPS 24″).
