What are the different types of Korean flanges?

Korean standard flanges are an essential component in various industries such as the oil and gas, petrochemical, and construction sectors. They are used to connect pipes, valves, and other equipment and come in a variety of shapes and sizes to suit different applications. There are several types of Korean standard flanges, each with its unique features and advantages. Here is a brief overview of the different types of Korean standard flanges:

socket welding - Korean Flanges lap point - Korean Flanges blind - Korean Flanges
Socket Welding Flange Lap Joint Flange Blind Flange
Socket Welding flanges have counter bore is slightly larger than the Outer Diameter of the matching pipe, allowing the pipe to be inserted. A restriction is built into the bottom of the bore, which acts as a shoulder for the pipe to rest on, and has the same ID of matching pipe. A Lap Joint Flange is usually used in conjunction with Lap Joint Stubs. Lap Joint Flanges in carbon or low alloy steel piping systems are best used when frequent dismantling for inspection and cleaning is required. The use of Lap Joint Flanges at points where severe bending stress occurs should be avoided. A Blind Flange has no bore, and is used to close ends of piping systems. A blind flange also permits easy access to a line ones it has been sealed. The blind flange is sometimes machined to accept a pipe of the nominal Size to which reduction is being made. The reduction can be either threaded or welded.
welding neck - Korean Flanges thread - Korean Flanges slip on - Korean Flanges
Welding Neck Flange Threaded (Screwed) Flange Slip-On Flange
Weld neck pipe flanges attach to the pipe by welding the pipe to the neck of the pipe flange. This allows for the transfer of stress from the weld neck pipe flanges to the pipe itself. This also reduces high stress concentration at the base of the hub of the weld neck pipe flanges. Weld neck pipe flanges are often used for high pressure applications. Screwed or Threaded flanges are attached to the pipe like any other screwed fittings, and may be back-welded to seal the joint between pipe and flange. Although still available in most sizes and pressure ratings, screwed fittings today are used almost exclusively in smaller pipe sizes and at low pressures. Slip on pipe flanges actually slip over the pipe. These pipe flanges are typically machined with an inside diameter slightly larger than the outside diameter of the pipe. Slip on pipe flanges are secured to the pipe with a fillet weld at the top and the bottom of the slip on pipe flanges.
compact - Korean Flanges Spectacle Blind - Korean Flanges Orifice - Korean Flanges
Compact Flange Spectacle Blind Flange Orifice Flange
A compact flange, similar to a swivel ring flange, is a two-piece constructed flange used extensively for offshore pipelines, offshore industry applications and onshore and sub-sea applications. Its double sealing action prevents hydrocarbon releases to address health and safety issues and concerns. A spectacle blind is a safety device used to isolate a section of line or piece of equipment when the line or equipment needs to be inspected or removed from service. It is different than a valve in that the blind is a permanent or long term isolation device. An Orifice Flange is intended for use instead of standard pipe Flanges when an orifice plate or flow nozzle must be installed. Pairs of pressure tapings are machined into the Orifice Flange, making separate orifice carriers or tapings in the pipe wall unnecessary.

Korean standard flanges are an essential component in various industries and come in a variety of shapes and sizes to suit different applications. Whether you need a slip-on flange for a low-pressure application or a weld neck flange for a high-pressure application, there is a Korean standard flange to suit your needs.

Material of Korean Flanges

Korean flanges are typically made of carbon steel, although they can also be made of stainless steel or other materials. Carbon steel flanges are strong and durable, and they are commonly used in a variety of industrial and mechanical applications. Stainless steel flanges are resistant to corrosion and are often used in applications where hygiene is a concern, such as in the food and pharmaceutical industries. Other materials that may be used to make Korean flanges include brass, bronze, and aluminum. It is important to select the appropriate material for a flange based on the specific requirements of the application in which it will be used.

Manufacturing process of Korean Flanges

Korean flanges are known for their high quality standards and durability. But how are Korean flanges manufactured? Here, we will take a look at the manufacturing process of Korean flanges. First, let’s start with the raw materials used to manufacture Korean flanges. These flanges are usually made from carbon steel, stainless steel or alloy steel. The raw material is cut to the desired size and shape using a cutting machine. Next, the raw material is heated to a high temperature in a furnace. This is done to make the material more pliable and easier to use. Once the material has reached the desired temperature, it is placed in a forging machine. The forging process involves forming the material into the desired shape using a series of dies. This is done under high pressure to ensure the flange has the required strength and durability. After the forging process, the flanges are allowed to cool before the machining process is carried out. During this process, the flanges are cut and shaped to the exact dimensions specified in the Korean standard. This is done using various machines, such as lathes and milling machines. Once the machining process is complete, the flanges are ready for quality testing. This includes checking for defects, measuring to ensure the flange meets the required dimensions, and pressure testing to ensure it can withstand the required pressure. Finally, the flanges are cleaned, painted or coated to protect them from corrosion. The flanges are then ready for packaging and shipping to the customer. In summary, the manufacturing process for Korean flanges involves several steps, including raw material selection, forging, machining, and quality testing. These steps ensure that the final product meets the high quality standards required by Korean specifications.

  • Raw material inspection – The key raw material used to produce flanges is billet or hot rolled bar stock. All raw materials purchased are supplied with test reports in accordance with British Standards with full traceability. This is the first mandatory step in the flange production process to ensure good quality. The raw materials are retested in-house to ensure chemical composition, mechanical properties and metallographic analysis.
  • Cutting of raw materials – Correct and strict control of cutting sizes and proportions ensures full cost control.
  • Heating – This is a very important step for the quality of the flanges. It is necessary to keep detailed records of heating temperatures to avoid overheating. Overheating can damage the structure of the metal and the mechanical properties of the raw material.
  • Forging – The forging process is divided into free forging and die forging. The forging time and strength of flanges vary for different pressure classes.
  • Heat treatment-The purpose of heat treatment is to eliminate the stress inside the flange and make the density more uniform. Careful recording of heat treatment temperature and cooling time is the key.
  • Inspection of forging blanks – After the heat treatment process, select batch samples are tested again for chemical composition and mechanical properties to ensure that all items pass.
  • Machining of forging blanks – During machining, inspection is performed along with machining to ensure that each part of the flange is qualified. Machining is performed on CNC and/or lathes.
  • Finished Product Inspection – The finished product will be inspected 100% prior to delivery to ensure that the goods meet Korean, ASME, EN or customer standards.
  • Documented Documentation – The entire production process and quality checks at different levels are documented according to Korean compliant standard operating procedures. This is the guarantee of good quality.
  • Test certificates: As we are an Korean and PED certified manufacturer, we can issue test certificates for all goods upon delivery and inspection in accordance with British Standards.
  • Packaging: All forgings and flanges are packed in wooden boxes or crates or pallets to ensure safe movement of the goods.

Production process of Korean casting flange

The production process of a Korean casting flange typically involves several steps, including the creation of a mold or pattern, the casting of the flange using molten metal, and various finishing and quality control steps. To begin the process, a mold or pattern is created using a material such as wood or metal. This mold or pattern will be used to create the shape of the flange, and will typically be made to precise specifications to ensure that the final product meets the desired dimensions and specifications. Once the mold or pattern is ready, the casting process can begin. This typically involves melting the metal that will be used to create the flange, such as iron or steel, and pouring the molten metal into the mold or pattern. The metal is then allowed to cool and solidify, taking on the shape of the mold or pattern. After the casting process is complete, the flange will typically undergo various finishing and quality control steps. This may include machining or grinding to achieve the desired dimensions and surface finish, as well as testing to ensure that the flange meets the required specifications and standards. Overall, the production process for a Korean casting flange is a highly precise and technical process that requires a thorough understanding of metallurgy, casting techniques, and quality control processes.
